List View Web Part Background
When the List View Web Part was originally released, it only supported a very limited amount of functionality that was offered by the Modern List and Library Experience. For those who started to use this web part in the “Preview” release, we observed that we could only pull data from lists created from the Custom List template type. Now we are able to see additional list types supported as this offering continues to grow.
In the latest updates release for this web part, we see that Microsoft is continuing to expand the offering that was once available in the Classic experience. Previously, users were able to add any list or library template template as a web part directly to the page.
This limitation was in part due to some unique features of these templates not publicly available yet in modern.
