Apple TV Product Review
Now right away, I must admit that the need for Apple TV product is quickly becoming obsolete. The trend we are currently seeing with our high-def televisions is that they are all becoming “smart TVs”. These new televisions are including built in wi-fi, as well as the ability to have your own accounts where you can personalize the applications that are displayed on your television. Because all of these features are already built into the TV, to me there is just no need to drop the extra cash on this product.
If you already have a television however, that does not include all of these features, and you can’t afford to upgrade your TV and spend over $1000, then this might be a temporary solution. Personally, if this included Pandora online radio, then this would be the complete package. I realize though this would be supporting a competitor to Apple’s own iTunes store. Hopefully with the new iOS release Fall 2013 with the new iTunes radio, will help fill the void with Apple TV for me.

Pros:
- Compatible with other Apple accessories. The Apple Wireless Keyboard makes navigating and searching for music, TV shows, and movies a lot easier.
- Home-Sharing enables you to access your entire iTunes library and playlists.
- AirPlay allows you to display screen of iPhone/iPod/iPad (iOS 4.3 or newer), Macbook (2011 or newer). [AppleTV 2nd generation or newer]
Cons:
- Costs $99
- Use of the Apple TV remote also controls your Macbook by default, causing the iTunes to play music. (I recommend searching the internet on how to remove this setting.)
- Television and Movie applications either require a paid prescription or pay-per-download.
- Application selection is limited to default apps, and there is no app store that allows you to download additional applications.
