Microsoft 365 Roadmap: January 2018

The January 2018 Microsoft 365 Roadmap is a great way to obtain visibility into new features that are in the process of being rolled out within the Office 365 application. In other words, the Microsoft 365 Roadmap tracks updates as new features make there way through the development life-cycle. As a result, administrators have the ability to influence the architecture of their solutions, stay ahead of new features that can be leveraged by their organization, and address changes that might impact users in a negative way.

Definitions

The definitions of each phase of the development life cycle are:

Launched: Fully released updates that are now generally available to users.
Rolled Out: Updates that are available to a target group of users
In Development: Updates that are in the early stages of development and testing
Cancelled: Previously announced features that are no longer being developed

Other key definitions include:

Calendar Year (CY): The target release month or quarter within the specified year. A calendar years is defined as starting in January and ending in December.
Services: The Office 365 product or feature impacted by the functional changes.
Blog Resources: Link or reference to related published content found within this site.

New ways how to interact with	New features in Microsoft Teams makes it an even more powerful hub for teamwork by enabling you to use apps in new ways—including the ability to take quick actions from the command box and to add apps to your new personal space. Find and use apps in new ways – Now, you can include interactive cards from apps in conversations the same way you would add an emoji or GIF. With one click, you can bring important information like a task from Trello into a channel conversation or chat. Finding new apps and services in Teams is also easier with the new Store where you can search for apps by name or category, such as Project Management or Analytics. Microsoft Stream: Office 365 Video migration – admin opt-in phase	Office 365 Video will be transitioning to the new enterprise video service, Microsoft Stream. Microsoft will aide in the migration of content from Office 365 Video to Microsoft Stream. The first phase will be an “opt-in” phase, where the O365 Video portal admin will have the option to click a button and walk through a migration wizard. The admin will be able to assess their use of O365 Video features compared to available features in Stream, move all O365 Video content to Stream, evaluate and verify the moved content, and finally make the migrated data final in Stream.
