Digital Nervous System Overview
Bill Gates- “Business @ the speed of thought”
As I was going through some belongings in my basement, I stumbled across an old book with Bill Gates’s name written on it. My strong desire to study individuals who have had great success motivated me to pick up this book and analyze his thought process and relate that to my own life.
What first sparked my interest from this book was that it was published in 1999. Because it is a book that focuses on technology, it amazes me to see how fast technology has evolved over the past 14 years. Bill Gates had amazing insight as he discusses the direction he sees technology moving in the following decade, and he wasn’t too far off on his predictions.
He goes on to refer the processes of business operations to be call The Digital Nervous System. This reference is of course the comparison of business operations to the human’s natural nervous system and that businesses of the future should be modeled in such a way as digital technology continues to advance.
